Jeremiah 17:7 - MSG - "Blessed is the man who trusts in me, O God, the woman who abides in God. They are like trees newly planted in Eden that take root by rivers - there is no need to worry, even in the most hot summer". (2023)

“But blessed is the man who trusts in me, God, the woman who is on God's side. They are like trees newly planted in Eden and taking root near rivers. No worries in the hottest summer, never drop a leaf, peace and calm in the dry seasons, with fresh fruit every season.

Genesis 17:9
God continued to Abraham: “And you shall honor my covenant, you and your seed, throughout your generations. This is the covenant you must keep, the covenant you will make with all your descendants: to circumcise every male. Circumcision for circumcision." the foreskin? will be the sign of the alliance between us. Every male baby is circumcised at the age of eight days, from generation to generation - this includes slaves born at home and slaves bought from foreigners who do not they are related by blood. Be sure to circumcise your own children, as well as anyone brought in from outside. In this way, my covenant is written on your body, a permanent sign of my permanent covenant. An uncircumcised man, one who they did not cut off his foreskin, he will be cut off from his people - he broke my covenant.

Genesis 17:17
Abraham fell flat on his face. And then he laughed and thought: “Can a man of a hundred years have a child? And can Sarah have a child at ninety?

Genesis 28:13
Then God stood right in front of him and said, "I am God, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I give you and your descendants the earth to sleep on. Your descendants will be like the dust of land They will stretch from west to east and from north to south. All the families of the earth will bless you and your descendants. Gill's Notes on the Bible

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,.... In the Word of the Lord, as a Targum, in Christ, the essential Word of God. to seeSalmo 2:12who know him spiritually and therefore trust him,Salmo 9:10who saw the vanity and emptiness of all other administrators in whom there is no salvation apart from Him. who go to him as their only refuge. Cling to Him, rest and trust Him as your Savior. give him everything Trust him with all your concerns, respect your life and salvation and immortal souls. And expect all things from him, grace here and glory hereafter: who trust in his person to be accepted of God. in his righteousness for their justification. in his blood for the forgiveness of your sins. in its fulness to meet your needs; in its protecting and preserving power; and in all things to eternal life and happiness: and such are blessed men. because it is in the greatest security. It is like Mount Zion, which can never be removed. They will not lack any good, worldly or spiritual, that is due to them. They enjoy great peace now and eternal glory in the world to come:

and whose hope is the Lord; the word of the Lord, according to the Targum, as before: Christ, who is the hope of Israel, our hope, and Christ in us, the hope of glory,Jeremiah 14:8, whose hope is from the Lord, whose author and giver he is. and it is a good hope through his grace. and whose object is the Lord Jesus Christ. who are surrendered to him as prisoners of hope. and keep it, the hope that is before them. and hope in him for mercy, redemption, and eternal life. Blessed men! Their hope will not put them to shame. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED,Salmo 146:5.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

For the rest of the prophecy, Jeremiah refers to the moral failings that led to Judah's downfall.

Jeremiah 17:6

Like the moor -Or: "like a man without money"Salmo 102:17. The verbs "shall see" (or fear) and "dwell" clearly state that it is referring to a human and not a plant.

Jeremiah 17:8

The river -Or: "water stream"Isaiah 30:25, made for irrigation purposes.

I won't see -Or: “don't be afraidJeremiah 17:6.” God's people experience difficulties like other people, but they are not afraid of them because they know

(1) that it is for your own good and

(2) that God will give them strength to endure.

Jeremiah 17:9

The train of thought seems to be this: If man is so blessedJeremiah 17:7-8Whoever trusts in Yahweh, why is it that people so often "make flesh for their hand"? And the answer is: because the human heart cannot see things clearly, but is full of cunning and constantly tries to take advantage of others.

desperately angry -Instead of incurable disease.

Jeremiah 17:10

The answer to the question "Who can know?" For him, the human heart is an unfathomable mystery: only God can understand it.

(Video) You can trust God! Jeremiah 17:7-8 MSG

Ways -It's probably their way of life. The "and" should be left out, as the last sentence explains what "man's way" means when it comes to judgment before God. It is "the fruit", the final result, "of his action, that is, his real character formed by the actions and habits of his life.

Jeremiah 17:11

Rather it says, “As the partridge gathers eggs it has not laid, the general sense is that the greedy man will surely reap disappointments in the end, just as the partridge gathers eggs it has not laid and you cannot escape them.

Fool -A Nabal. To see1. Samuel 25:25.

Jeremiah 17:12,Jeremiah 17:13

Or: “Throne, set, you wait, Lord! All those who abandon you, etc.' The prophet concludes his prophecy by expressing his own trust in Yahweh and the certainty that divine justice will ultimately be vindicated in the punishment of the wicked. The "throne of glory" corresponds to someone enthroned in glory.

Jeremiah 17:13

It will be written on the earth -I. that is, their names will quickly disappear, unlike those that are engraved on the rock forever.Good 19:24. A blackboard covered with sand is still used in Eastern schools for teaching writing. However, writing on such materials must be erased immediately. Equally fleeting is the existence of those who forsake God. "All men are written somewhere, saints in heaven, sinners on earth" (Origen).

Jeremiah 17:15

This challenge shows that this prophecy was written before Jeremiah's words were actually fulfilled, and therefore before the conquest of Jerusalem at the end of Jehoiakim's life. "Now" means "I pray" and it is ironic.

Jeremiah 17:16

I was in no hurry -I. that is, I did not try to escape from it.

A shepherd following you -More like "a shepherd behind you". "Pastor" means "ruler, judge" (Jeremiah 2:8n.) and belongs to the Prophet not as a teacher, but as one who had been endowed by God with authority to guide and direct the political course of the nation. This is the way Jehovah leads his peoplePsalm 23:1-2, and the prophet does so "after him," dutifully following his instructions.

The sad day -literally "the day of the sickness of death": the day when Jerusalem would be destroyed and the Temple burned.

Right -Leave the word. What Jeremiah claims is that he spoke as if he were in the presence of God. They were not his own words, but they carried the authority of whoever stood before him. Let me compareJeremiah 15:19.

Jeremiah 17:17

a horror -Rather, "cause of disappointment" or disappointmentJeremiah 1:17. By not fulfilling Jeremiah's prophecy, God seemed to shame him.

Jeremiah 17:18

Confused -Shame.

Destroy them -Instead, break it with a double violation: a double punishment, first, your common share in the misery that accompanies the death of your country. the second, special punishment for the sin of persecuting and mocking God's prophet.
